The various policy frameworks in early childhood development, research and training, basic education, technical and vocational education, the administration and management of education within Mombasa has failed to deliver value and develop a distinct human capital and workforce brand. Our community colleges have come to be known as the “home for failures” and have been disconnected from the needs of the economy. This has affected the quality of our entrepreneurship, industrialization and vocation within the County, and ultimately eroded the value of the Mombasa brand nationally, regionally and globally. As a Port City, economic opportunities continue to pass over the residents of the County, especially among the indigenous communities. Access to information has benefited others at the expense of providing equal opportunity for the human resource and capital within the County.
In spite of all this, H.E the Governor of Mombasa through the Ministry of Education & Children seeks to turn this situation around to facilitate prosperity for generations to come. This mission seeks to transform and empower the community from the grassroots. This transformation will establish a safe city for children; develop our human capital in order to spur the desired economic growth, increase wealth within our community, profit for enterprise, and jobs for our workforce.
